The Aromatics complex consists of units to produce the main products of Benzene and Para-Xylene ; in addition there will be the side products of: Light Naphtha, LPG, Hydrogen, Light Ends, and Heavy aromatics. The main feed for the complex will be Full Range Naphtha. The complex is designed to utilize the Benzene production of 370,000 Tons/year to the Styrene project. The Para-Xylene is desired production with a continuous growth in demand in global markets. The Aromatics project is designed to annually produce 774, 000 Tons of Para-Xylene. Para-Xylene is used in the production of petrochemical end-products such as: Pure Terephthalic Acid (PTA), Di-Methyl Terephthalate (DMT) for the subsequent production of different types of Polyesters. The other side products from the Aromatics complex will be utilized for further processing and reprocessing in other projects. The Aromatics complex is expected to commence production in January 2009.
THE KUWAIT STYRENE COMPANY (TKSC)
KARO holds 57.5 % of the Styrene Project.
The Styrene project will have a production capacity of 450,000 Tons of Styrene. Ethylene from TKOC and benzene from KPPC will be supplied to the Styrene manufacturing unit as raw materials.
The majority of the global consumption of Styrene is directed towards producing polystyrene.
In addition to the current high global demand for Styrene and Polystyrene, continuous growth in demand is expected in the future.
The Styrene project is expected to commence production in the 2nd Q of 2009.
